About 16 days after incident, the body of slain Italian national Caeser Tavella would be sent to his home country today [Wednesday].The Italian Embassy in Dhaka conveyed their decision over the matter to Dhaka Metropolitan Police [DMP] on Tuesday evening. The body was kept in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital [DMCH] after killing of Tavella by unidentified assailants on September 28.
Police Inspector and In-Charge of DMCH Camp Mozammel Hoque said: “The Italian embassy has informed us about taking the body to Italy. In this regard, the authorities have asked for police presence in front of morgue at 8:30 am.”
Confirming the matter, Deputy Commissioner [public relations] of DMP said: “Italian embassy phoned about taking Tavella’s body to Italy.”
Italian national Cesare Tavella, 50, who worked as the project manager of Profitable Opportunities for Food Security [PROOFS], a project of Netherlands-based organisation ICCO Cooperation, was shot dead by armed assailants in the city’s Gulshan diplomatic zone on September 28.
Meanwhile, the detectives still could not find out a clue to unearth the mystery behind the grisly murder of Italian national Caesar Tavella.
Although the Detective and Criminal Intelligence Division is now officially assigned to investigate the murder, other intelligence agencies, including Special Branch, National Security Intelligence, Directorate of General Forces Intelligence, intelligence wing of Rapid Action Battalion and Crime Scene Unit of Criminal Investigation Department are also conducting ‘supporting probe’ into the incident.
