UNB, Dhaka :
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said Italy primarily agreed with Bangladesh that IS had no link with the murder of Italian national Cesare Tavella.
The minister came up with the information while talking to reporters after a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mario Palma at his ministry.
During the meeting, Asaduzzaman said, the Italian Ambassador said they checked the IS website and did not find any link of IS with the murder. “We’ve also informed him that there’s no existence of IS militant group in Bangladesh and the people of the country don’t support such type of militant group,” the Home Minister told the journalists.
Asaduzzaman further said, “We assured the Italian envoy that we’ll debunk the motive behind the killing as soon as possible.” He said Mario Palma expressed satisfaction over the quick action taken by law-enforcement agencies after the murder of the Italian national.
Asaduzzaman said he requested the Italian envoy and their press to share all the information with the ministry if they find any over the incident.
“It’s not comprehensible to me how a foreign national who had come to the country a few months ago could be a target of any militant group.”
