UNB, Dhaka :
BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman on Tuesday sent a legal notice to Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif for making ‘derogatory’ remarks against him.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal, on behalf of Tarique who is now staying in London, sent the legal notice through registered mail.
Kaiser said Hanif in a state function in Kushtia on September 6 said ‘Tarique Rahman had a meeting with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim when Tarique discussed about launching a unit of al-Qaeda in Bangladesh’.
His remarks were baseless, fabricated and ill-motivated which tarnished the image of Tarique Rahman politically and socially, the lawyer said, adding that they would take recourse to law if the notice goes unheeded in two weeks.
