Legendary film actor West Bengal Soumitra Chatterjee died on November 15 in 2020. Before his death, popular actor and director Parambrata Chatterjee made a biopic of Soumitra titled Abhijaan, which is going to release soon. Before releasing of the movie, its premiere show was held in Kolkata on April 14. Aritra Sen was co-producer of the movie. Basically for Aritra’s invitation,
popular Bangladeshi TV actress Tareen Jahan got the opportunity to attend the
premiere show of Abhijaan.
According to Tareen, she did not feel bad not to present in Dhaka on Pahela Boishakh, on April 14, because she got the scope to watch premiere show of biopic of Soumitra Chatterjee, Abhijaan, in Kolkata on that day. After watching the biopic, Tareen was impressed. While sharing her feelings in this regard she said over mobile phone on Friday, “Respected Soumitra Chatterjee was an actor, writer, recitation artiste and politician at a time. He worked with from Satyajit Ray to present time’s directors. As a result, he gathered many experiences in his career. He always tried to invent himself in acting. Actors have many learning from him. In his long time acting career, Soumitra struggled in different times and also gained huge experiences related to ups and down of the career. I feel really lucky because I got the opportunity to watch his biopic on Pahela Boishakh in Kolkata. I think every artiste should watch Soumitra’s biopic. On Saturday, I will come back to Dhaka.”
It is noted that cast of Abhijaan includes Soumitra Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta (in role of Soumitra Chatterjee), Parambrata Chatterjee, Sohini Sengupta, Tanushree Chakraborty, among others. Meanwhile, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Paoli Dam also acted in guest roles in the movie.
