Ruling Awami League’s mayoral candidate of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh vowed to turn the city corporation into developed one if he is elected in the upcoming city polls slated for January 30.
“We will turn Dhaka South City Corporation into a developed city corporation . . . The Nagar Bhaban office will remain open for 24 hours for townspeople,” Taposh told a polls campaign on Tuesday in Jhawchar Boro Mosjid Area of Kamrangirchar, outskirts of the capital.Barrister Taposh, also former ruling AL lawmaker, sought vote for “Boat” symbol in the DSCC polls, expressing his firm pledge that Dhaka would be built as a beautiful as well as a clean city.
“I will be devoted to the people if I am elected as mayor of the city corporation,” he promised, urging all-out cooperation to build a modern city corporation in the days to come.
Refuting the allegation of BNP’s mayoral candidate, the AL mayoral contestant said, “We’re not violating any polls rules . . . Election campaign is going on following the electoral code of conduct.” AL Advisory Council Member Mukul Bose, Joint-General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organising Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, Dhaka South City unit of AL President Hazi Abul Hasnat, former General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and Juba Mohiila League General Secretary Apu Ukil, among others, accompanied him during the mass-contact at 55, 56, 57 wards of DSCC.
