Tamim misses 1st Test against SA

Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh played a sparkle 87-run innings against South Africa in the third and final One Day International (ODI) match against South Africa at SuperSport Park in Centurion of South Africa on March 23. Thus, Bangladesh easily defeated South Africa in that match and clinched the ODI series 2-1. So, Bangladesh Cricket team had a great expectation that Tamim will play in the first Test and will shine with the willow.
But Tamim Iqbal could not play in the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban as the left-arm opener has been suffering from stomach pain. After winning in the coin-session, Bangladesh decided to field first. But Tamim Iqbal was not included in the squad. Promising opener Shadman Islam is the replacement of Tamim Iqbal.
Physiotherapist of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Bayjedul Islam said, ” Tamim has been suffering from stomach pain. He has taken medication. He has been suffering from diarrohoea.”
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam was not included in the Test team against the Proteas in the first Test as he was little bit injured. Bayjedul Islam said, ” Shoriful became weak after taking part in the practice session. So, We didn’t take any risk. He has been in leisure.”
Ace batsman Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the Test team.
Mohammad Naim, Nurul Hasan Sohan have been dropped from Bangladesh Test team. This is Mominul Haque’s 50th Test match. Mushfiqur Rahim is the cricketer of Bangladsesh who played the highest Test for Bangladesh. Mushfiqur Rahim played 79 Test matches, so far.
