Poribesh Bachao Andolon (Poba), an organization of green activists, on Thursday urged the government to take proper initiatives immediately to provide proper healthcare facilities to low income people of the urban areas.
The green activists came up with the call while speaking at a seminar on ‘City environment and health protection of low income people’ marketing the World Health Day, to be observed on April 7 at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
Poba and Bangladesh Resource Center for
Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) jointly organized the seminar.
The said sanitation system is a big problem in the slum areas and good sanitation system should be created for slum dwellers in cities.
Abu Naser, Chairman of Poba, said, “The government should ensure basic rights of people. We want to live in a clean environment. So the government has to take proper initiative for healthy environment for all specially slum dwellers of the city.”
