FM M Taibur Rahman of SAIF Sporting Club emerged champion in the Rectangle FIDE Rapid Rating Chess tournament held on Wednesday at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
FM Taibur eared six points out of seven games to clinch the title.
GM Ziaur Rahman of SAIF Sporting Club became runner-up with same points. FM Taibur and GM Zia both earned six points each, their ties were broken by individual result between them. FM Taibur won against GM Zia in this event and became champion.
IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Sheikh Russel Chess Club finished third position, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society became fourth and CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy placed at fifth position.
Six players secured five points each. Their positions are sixth- M Nasim Hossain Bhuiyan of Legend Faraz Ayiaz Chess Team, seventh- Md Masum Hossain of Uttara Central Chess Club, eighth -FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Sheikh Russel Chess Club, ninth – Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society, 10th- Jabed Al Azad of Crescent Club and 11th- Md Abzid Rahman of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society.
Rating categories prizes goes to M Abdur Rashid, Md Ataur Rahman and Md Anowar Hossain. WIM Rani Hamid got best woman prize and Tahsin Tajwar Zia got best Under-16 prizes.
