Govt to procure Aman rice in Narsingdi

The government has set a target to procure 492 tonnes of rice in Narsingdi district during the current Aman season. The District Food Control office sources said the procurement drive began in the district on December 8 at the rate of Taka 32 per kg rice.
The upazila wise breakup of the procurement target is Sadar upazila, 9 tonnes rice, Raipura upazila, 326 tonnes, Shibpur upazila, 82 tonnes, Monohardi upazila, 39 tonnes, Belabo upazila, 29 tonnes and Polash upazila, 7 tonnes.
District Food Controller Akhtar Hossain told BSS that the procurement of Aman rice through 26 millers in the 6 upazilas of the district is going satisfactorily.
He added that the government has already procured 349 tonnes of rice against the target of 492 tonnes.
He expressed the hope that the rest 100 tonnes to be procured within January.
