The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday acquitted Holey Artisan attack survivor, Tahmid Hasib Khan, in a case filed against him on charges of hiding information about the attack.
Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan passed the order on Sunday in presence of Tahmid in the case filed with Bhatara Police Station of the city.
Tahmid was seen holding a gun and walking with the terrorists in a
number of pictures captured by a man from an apartment adjacent to Holey Artisan Bakery. Toronto University student Tahmid Hasib Khan was arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in connection with the Gulshan terror attack and he was allowed bail on October 2 last year.
Bangladesh-origin Tahmid was rescued along with 12 others at the Holey Artisan Bakery in the city’s diplomatic zone of Gulshan on July 2 last year.
A total of 22 people were killed by a group of militants in an attack on July 1 at the café. Five militants were also killed in Operation Thunderbolt carried out by army commandos. A cafe employee, allegedly an accomplice of the attackers, also lost his life. Twenty hostages, including 17 foreign nationals, were killed by the militants.
