After some early damages, South Africa crawled back strongly into the game to thrash Zimbabwe once again and go 2-0 up in the 3 match ODI series.
In the first one hour of the match, everyone would have expected a shock incoming when South Africa lost 7 wickets with only 100 runs on the board. But Dale Steyn, who finally made a comeback in the side made it a memorable day for him with a brilliant all-round performance.
When South Africa’s innings were going no where, Steyn (60) and Phehlukwayo (28) rescued Proteas and with their contribution, the hosts put a fighting total of 198 runs before getting bowled out.
All the bowlers played a crucial part for Zimbabwe with Kyle Jarvis, Tripano and Mavuta picking up 2 wickets each. But Chatara was the most successful among them, who picked up 3 wickets.
In reply, Zimbabwe was in all sorts of trouble right from the word go. With 4 wickets down under 50 runs, the men in red looked to fight it back. But Imran Tahir make sure that it doesn’t happen and with his leg-spin, he demolished Zimbabwe by picking up 6 wickets including a hatt-rick.
It took only 24 overs for the hosts to bowl Zimbabwe for 78 runs and win the series with one match still to go. After a tremendous batting display, Steyn also picked up 2 wickets and named man of the match in his comeback match.
