Ehsanul Haque Jasim :Nasrin Awal, mother of Tabith Awal, on Monday joined the electioneering for her son, who is running for mayor post of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Nasrin took part in the election campaign at Kalachandpur area of Gulshan. She on Sunday also joined the campaign for her son Tabith, who received the BNP support after his father Abdul Awal Mintoo’s nomination paper was rejected. Tabith’s electoral symbol is ‘bus’. Nasrin is the chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh. She told the voters that her son would work for the city dwellers if he gets a chance. She told reporters that her son is the candidate of the young generation. Tabith also campaigned in different areas in the DNCC. Leaders and workers of the BNP also took part in the election campaign for Tabith. Mintoo, who faces different cases and has not appeared in public, is yet to join the campaign for his son. Meanwhile, Afroza Abbas on Monday morning took part in electioneering on behalf of her husband for seeking votes for husband Mirza Abbas, BNP-backed mayor candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), at Fakirerpool, Arambagh, Bangabhaban Staff Quarter and some other areas.She told the voters that Mirza Abbas would take part in the campaign after receiving bail. She is hopeful that her husband’s poll campaign will pick up pace once he is out on bail. Mirza Abbas has been away from public view after being implicated in an arson and explosion case. He is accused in 61 criminal cases, according to his affidavit filed with the Election Commission. He moved High Court on Monday seeking bail in three cases.
