Minutes after the announcement of BNP’s support to him to vie for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) polls, Tabith Awal rushed to party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence on Thursday night to seek her blessings for his success in the election billed for April 28.
Tabith along with his wife entered Khaleda’s residence around 10:30pm and met the BNP chief expressing his gratitude to her. A few minutes ago, his mother Nasrin Awal and younger brother Tafsir Awal also met the BNP chief to thank her for picking Tabith as the BNP-backed DNCC mayoral candidate.
Earlier, BNP chairperson Khaleda at a meeting with a delegation of Adarsha Dhaka Andolon endorsed Tabith as the mayoral
candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation polls, as the Supreme Court upheld the High Court order rejecting his father Abdul Awal Mintoo’s petition against the cancellation of nomination.
“We placed to the BNP chairperson the name of Tabith as mayoral candidate of Adarsha Dhaka Andolon for the Dhaka North City Corporation polls and she has given her consent to it,” Prof Emajuddin Ahmed said after nearly a two-hour meeting with Khaleda.
