The harvesting of early planted T-Aman begins from last week across the upazila including six unions of Dupchanchia Upazila of Bogra district.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said, the target of cultivation of Aman was fixed at 1200 hectares of land in the upazila.
Exceeding the target, a total of 12, 12 hectares of land were cultivated during the period. Farmers of the area said to The New Nation, “The production of Aman paddy in this season is very good.”
“We are expecting a bumper production of it.” They added. Upazila agricultural officer Tahirul Islam said, “Favorable weather, specially the measured seasonal water was very much helpful for T-Aman cultivation.”
“There was no news of pest attack in any area of the district.
Moreover, there was no shortage of fertilizer and the cultivators used it as measured in their lands.” He added. Saiful Islam a T-Aman cultivators of Gunaher village under the upazila of the district, said that he had cultivated T-Aman on two acores of land during the current season and expected a good harvest. “After harvesting of Aman, I would cultivate Mustard on those lands.” he added.
