T-Aman cultivation programme taken in South-Western region

A total of 6,94,181 hectares of land were brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation in 10 districts under Khulna division during the current season with the production target of 17,96,752 tonnes of rice, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said.
The districts are- Jessore, Narail, Jhenidah, Magura, Khustia, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Satkhira, Khulna and Bagerhat.
Now the farmers of the 10 districts have become so much busy to nurture the crop land to get desired output, this correspondent found it while visiting different places of the districts.
Md. Abdul Aziz, additional director (AD) of DAE, Jessore region, said to make the T-Aman cultivation a success, necessary measures had been taken to supply fertilizers, insecticides and other agri inputs to the farmers at fair prices.
Favorable weather and availability of agricultural inputs including fertilizers has inspired the cultivators to make all-out Aman cultivation in this region, said the AD.
Farmers have completed the transplantation of Aman paddy everywhere of Khulna division attaining hundred percent of the target fixed by the department.
Sheikh Aminul Haque, deputy director (DD) of Narail DAE said, the farmers of the region are now very busy in nursing their paddy field. They are expecting bumper production of rice in the current session if weather remains favorable.
To this end, coordinated efforts have been taken by all concerned departments and organizations in popularizing the latest agriculture technologies among the farmers to make the T-Aman farming programme a success, he added.
