Sylhet Zilla Parishad has taken up 475 development schemes in the fiscal year 2016-17 . Within the stipulated period of time, most of the development schemes have been executed. Already 85 per cent works of the development schemes have been completed by the Sylhet Zilla Parishad.
The projects include construction of bridge and culvert, installation of tube wells and sanitary latrines, wheel chair, solar panel, furniture and sports materials distribution, and repairing academic and religious institutions, said an Engineer of Sylhet Zilla Parishad.
Abdul Ahad, Chief Executive Officer of Sylhet Zila Parished, said like the previous years the project works are being implemented here at the directives of the higher authorities concerned of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives considering the public interest.
According to Sylhet Zila Parished source, the allotment has been procured form ADP, Revenue and RADP with national exchequer of Tk 12,25,87,000. Of them, in order to execute 214 schemes, Tk. 5.25 core have been earmarked under Annual Development Project (ADP, and in order to execute 204 scheme Tk. 5,02,87,000 have been allotted from Revenue Development sector.
It can be mentioned further here that Tk 1.5 crore have been allotted for the execution of 57 schemes from RADP.
Amongst which least costly projects together with 45 larger projects have also been executed under the implementation programme, the SZP source added. Among them, the significant and notable projects are: construction of boundary wall of Imran Ahmed Girls’ High School and its gate under Gowainghat Upazila in Sylhet District, extension of the building of Hazi Sohrab Ali School and College under Gowainghat Upazila, development of Bollaghat Picnic Spot and construction of vehicular parking place with rod, concrete and cement (RCC), construction of the building of Ranaping Captain Rashid High School under Zaintiapur Upazila in Sylhet, construction of Bhadeshwar Purbobhag (East zone). Fakirtul-Shingkapon Road with RCC, Beanibazar Upazila Roads and Highway Department (RHD) Sylhetipara-Bangal Huda, Rural Road development with the cost of Tk. 17 lakh under Beanibazar Upazila, Nobang-Roybashi Dudbox Road Development with the cost of Tk. 7 lakh, completion of construction work of Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall of Mahmudus Samad Chowdhury Girls’ School and College and the institution’s Eastern Foundation with the cost of Tk. 17 lakh under Fenchugonj Upazila in Sylhet, extension of beatification and stair construction at the ghat (stairy slope) of Hakalukhi Haor (vast water body) at Ghilachara under Fenchugonj Upazila, completion of the construction of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Building (new) of Reboti Raman High School with the cost of Tk. 16 lakh under South Surma Upazila in Sylhet, construction of building and toilet of Asirgonj High School with the cost of Tk 14 lakh under South Surma Upazila in Sylhet, development of Yahia Chowdhury Junior High School under Gowalabazar Union of Osmaninagar Upazila in Sylhet, construction of restroom, public toilet for tourists and holiday-makers at Bichnakandi under Gowainghat in Sylhet, reconstruction of Sheikghat Dak Banglow under Sadar Upazila with the cost of Tk. 5 lakh, construction of Bollaghat Dakbanglow with the cost of Tk. 7 lakh under Gowainghat Upazila, construction of Naljuri Dakbanglow of the same upazila with the cost of Tk. 5 lakh, construction of Ratargul passengers’ shed and shop with the cost of Tk. 12.76 lakh under the same upazila, construction of Welcome to Fenchugonj Gate with the cost of Tk. 10 lakh, placement of tiles at the office rooms and on their corridor at the District Council Office with the cost of Tk. 19 lakh, construction of the boundary wall of the Natural Park at Sylhet Sadar Upazila with the cost of Tk. 30.5 lakh, completion of the construction work of the building of Parua Anwara High School with the cost of Tk. 7 lakh under Companigonj Upazila in Sylhet District, construction of permanent Digital Building of Sylhet District Council with the cost of Tk 7 lakh, Brick Soling of West Poilonpur Golmukapan-based riverside road to Shaheber Bari with the cost of Tk. 10 lakh, Zakigonj Upazila Dakbanglow construction with the cost of Tk 12 lakh, Fenchugonj Dakbanglow construction with the cost of Tk 10 lakh and 20 other projects costing Tk 5 lakh or more each.
