Corona took the life of Sylhet Regional Election Officer Muhammad Israel Hossain. He died at a Dhaka hospital at 3:15 pm on Sunday.
Israel Hossain was the returning officer of Sylhet-3 constituency by-election. But when he was attacked by Corona, on July 3, he was replaced by Sylhet Deputy Commissioner M. Kazi Emdadul Islam was given the responsibility of returning officer.
Apart from Israel Hossain, Assistant Returning Officer Sylhet Senior District Election Officer Faisal Quader, Additional Regional Election Officer Shukkur Mahmud, Jaintapur Upazila Election Officer Abul Hasnat and Balaganj Upazila Election Officer Sohrab Hossain and a few other officials and employees were also attacked at the time.
Regional Election Officer Sohrab Hossain was shifted to Dhaka after his condition deteriorated after being attacked by Corona.
