A case was filed against the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sylhet Kotwali Thana and two other policemen with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday.
Manjurul Islam, the district Sechchasebak League leader, filed the case. The accused cops were identified as OC of the thana Suhel Ahmed, Sub-Inspector (SI) Fayej Uddin and In-Charge of Lamabazar Police Outpost Abdul Kadir.
The accused cops had beaten Sapan, a Sechchasebak League activist, earlier on Saturday evening and demanded bribe money from him to release. Judge Saiful Islam Hira ordered the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate to submit a report after investigation by May 29.
