DNCC evicts 300 illegal establishments in Mirpur

Dhaka North City Corporation has conducted a drive from Mirpur Section 14 to Bhashantek intersection and evicted 300 illegal establishments.
The drive was led by two Executive Magistrates of DNCC SM Shafiul Azam and Md Sajid Anwar begins at 12 noon on Sunday.
About 300 establishments, temporary shops, sheds, staircases and wood installations were demolished during the drive.
DNCC authorities said that they cleared nearly 30,000 square feet of space during the drive.
The team also fined a man Tk 50,000 on the charge of keeping construction materials on the road and footpath.
A bamboo seller was also sentenced to 15 days in jail as he could not pay the fine of Tk one lakh imposed on him for occupying road by keeping construction materials.
The drive against illegal encroachers will continue, the magistrates said.
