Cotton loaded truck gutted

A fire broke out in a cotton truck parked on the side of Golapganj Road in Sylhet, causing extensive damage.
The incident took place at Uttar Bazar in the municipal area of the upazila around 8am on Wednesday.
According to the locals, the truck loaded with cotton was parked on the side of the road around 8 am. At that moment, two wires of electricity fell on the truck and caught fire. Then a fire broke out in a truck loaded with cotton. Upon receiving the news, a team of Golapganj Fire Service came and managed to put out the fire with the help of locals. However, more than 2 lakh rupees worth of cotton and the car were burnt.
Cotton owner Alamgir Hossain said, “My cotton worth more than Rs 2 lakh was burnt in the fire.” That is why I have suffered so much. ‘

Two bodies recovered

The cook and his associates have mysteriously died at Ananda Community Center Gachbari Bazar in Kanaighat upazilla in Sylhet recently.
The deceased were identified as Sohail, 35, son of late Rahmat Ullah of Gachbari Nayagram in Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet and Salma Begum, 35, of Taherpur village in Osmaninagar upazila. Police have rescued a man named Bilal Uddin in this incident.
According to police sources, a wedding ceremony was held at Ananda Community Center in Gachabari Bazar of Kanaighat today. The three were two chefs (male) and their partner was a female. After slaughtering the cows at night, after cutting the meat, he ate food next to the kitchen and went to sleep in a room of the center at around 2 o’clock. The bride’s party was also lying on the ground floor of the center. When I went to the door of the house in the morning to cook, there was no response. Later, the child was entered through a gap in the kitchen and the door was opened and it was seen that everyone was unconscious. When the police took the three unconscious to Kanaighat Upazila Health Complex, the doctors declared them dead. The other was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical Hospital.

Police arrested a TikToker last night on charges of rape in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar district.The accused has been sent to jail through Moulvibazar court today.
The arrestee is Masud Gani Manna (25), of Anantapur village under Sadar Police Station of Habiganj district.
Quoting the case statement, Inspector Md Humayun Kabir of Sreemangal Police Station said that the accused was in a relationship with a young woman whom he met through the TikTok app. The victim was forcibly taken to a resort and raped after promise of marriage. A video of the act was recorded and shared on social media using a fake Facebook ID, the police official said quoting the case statement.
Sreemangal Police Station Sub-inspector, Md Anwarul Islam Pathan, said, “After the victim filed a case with Sreemangal Police Station, police arrested Masud last night by conducting a raid in Tukerpara area of Sylhet district.”

102 tubewells installed

One Ummah Charity UK has completed the installation of 102 tube wells in remote areas within the different areas of Sylhet over a long period of two months. These tube wells are intended to benefit the poor and deprived families by providing them with clean, fresh water.
In collaboration with Mr Enamul Kabir and the social worker Shahin Ahmed, “Fresh Water Project Bangladesh” has been a great success.
One Ummahs “Fresh Water Project Bangladesh” has been successfully completed and every beneficiary family is very happy and grateful to the charity.

Victory month welcomed

Like every year, a colorful procession was organized by the Sylhet District Administration in the month of December. In this month of 1971, after a long and bloody war of 9 months, the sun of victory rose in the fortunes of the Bengalis.
The rally started from the Deputy Commissioner’s office at 10 am on Wednesday and ended at the central Shaheed Minar in Sylhet. Sylhet Deputy Commissioner M. Kazi Emdadul Islam gave a short speech later.
The Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain was present among others. Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nisharul Arif, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Farid Uddin, Additional Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Paritosh Ghosh, Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Masuk Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary Prof Zakir Hossain, Sadar Upazila Chairman Ashfaq Ahmed, Sylhet District President of Press Club Al-Azad, President of Sylhet Online Press Club Muhith Chowdhury, General Secretary of Sylhet District Sports Association Mahiuddin Ahmed Selim, Acting Commander of Sylhet Metropolitan Abdul Khalik, Cultural Officer of Sylhet District Shilpakala Academy Asit Baran Das Gupta.
