Swimmer Ariful Islam will bear the Bangladesh flag in Tokyo Olympics. The inaugural ceremony of Tokyo Olympics will be held in Tokyo, the capital city of Japan on July 23. The Olympics will come to an end on August 8.
Marking the participation of Bangladesh in Tokyo Olympics, a press conference was held at the Hotel Intercontinental, Dhaka on Wednesday. Vice-President of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun, Secretary General of BOA Syed Shahed Reza, Treasurer of the Association Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki were present at the conference.
Country’s best archer Ruman Shana, archer Diya Sidiqque, athlete Jahir Raihan, swimmer Ariful Islam, swimmer Junaina Ahmed, shooter Abdullah Hel Baki will compete in their respective events of Tokyo Olympics. Of them, Ruman Shana will take part in the Olympics directly.
Bashir Ahmed said, ” We expect a good result from Ruman Shana. He became champion in the World Cup Archery Stage-1 and World Cup Archery Stage-2 recently. So, Our confidence level is high about him and hope that he will boost up our country by earning a good result from the Olympics. Diya Siddique is doing good when she taking part in the training session. Besides, Diya moved into the final of the World Cup Archery Stage-2. She was beaten in the tie-breaker in the final, So, I hope she will bring something special for our country.
Ruman Shana said in virtual conference, ” If the event day’s favour me and everything goes well I shall achieve something from the Olympics.”
Diya Siddique said, ” I want to do good in Olympics.”
Abdullah Hel Baki Said, ” I have taken a good preparation. I want to give my best in my event. But everything depends on that day when I shall compete. If the day favours me I shall cut a brilliant figure.”
