A local leader of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League (BASL) and an accused in nine cases including one for murder, was hacked to death by miscreants in Bogura’s Shajahanpur upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased is identified as Abu Hanif Mister, 42, son of Arman Hossain, resident of Shakpala area under Shajahanpur upazila, reports our local correspondent quoting Sonatan Chakroborty, additional superintendent of police (Bogura sadar circle).
The incident took place at the Shakpala bus stand area around 11:30 am when miscreants attacked him with an axe and left him seriously injured and in an unconscious state, the ASP said.
Later locals rushed him to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital around 12pm where doctor pronounced him dead, the police official said.
Abu Hanif was the organising secretary of the Bogura district Sechchasebak unit, said Aminul Islam Dablu, secretary of the Bogura Jubo League unit.
There are nine cases filed against the deceased including for murder with several police stations.
We are looking into the matter, ASP Sonatan also said.
