Swapnadal stages 100th show of Tringsha Shatabdee

Audience-admired theatre troupe Swapnadal staged the 100th show of its anti-war production Tringsha Shatabdee recently at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital’s Segun Bagicha area.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest to enjoy the 100th show of the play Tringsha Shatabdee. Besides, prominent theatre personalities Mamunur Rashid, Golam Kuddus, SM Mohsin, Lucky Iman, Prof Abdus Selim, Kamal Bayzid, Akhtaruzzamn and Ramendu Majumdar among others, also attended the special show.
Adapted and directed by Zahid Repon, the story of Tringsha Shatabdee is based on the destruction of the two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which lead to the surrender of Japan and was meant to be the end of the war to end all wars. However, the world has seen many more wars since.
The production incorporates the terrible experiences of wars on people, including the Liberation War of Bangladesh, as well as the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. And through a replicated military exercise, the narrator has depicted the nuclear activities by the global superpowers.
During a transformation, the narrator of the play becomes a character, namely Suman, who wants the trial of war criminals acted against the country’s Liberation War during 1971.
The cast of the play includes- Juyena Shabnam, Fazle Rabbi Sukarna, Samad Bhuiyan, Shishir Sikder, Amzad Sharif, Mostafizur Rahman, Jebun Nesa, Saidul Islam, Rezaul Mawla, Mehedy Rana, Tanvir Sheikh, Jahid Riopn and others.
