In two days long winter clothes distribution programme, they distributed winter clothes among hundred families of Rajshahi padma river area and the university rail station area.
Swajon RU unit president Kaosar Ahmed and secretary Asaduzzaman Asad respectively were present in distribution programme while Prof Mir Imam Ibn Wahed, chairman of RU pharmacy department addressed the programme as chief guest.
Kaosar Ahmed, Swajon RU unit president said, for many people, winter is the synonym for misery.
The shelter-less people suffer for extreme cold in silence as they cannot afford to buy winter clothes to keep them warm adding that they (Swajon) collected the clothes from the university students of different residential halls and distributed those among shelter-less people to minimize their misery.
“Lately, the whole nation has fallen victim to political violence. In this situation, this effort by the under-graduate students of RU is really praiseworthy as it restores our faith in humanity”, said Prof Mir Imam Ibn Wahed.
Meanwhile, in 2012, RU authority approved Swajon as voluntary organization on campus. Since then, they donated blood among the patients without consideration along with different voluntary programmes on campus.
