‘Swadhinata Sarak’ to open soon to strengthen relationship between BD-India’

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam said ‘Swadhinata Sarak’ which will connect Kolkata via Mujibnagar-Nadia will be opened soon to bolster the relationship between the two neighboring countries in the days to come.
“The precondition of the development is communication… In continuation of doing development amid ‘Mujib Year’, the government has taken initiatives to introduce ‘Swadhinata Sarak’ which will connect Kolkata via Mujibnagar-Nadia on the occasion of the 50 years of the independence of the country,” he said. The minister said this recently while inspecting ‘Swadhinata Sarak’ in Mujibnagar in Meherpur.
He said the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to develop the country by taking various pragmatic steps as the precondition of the development is smooth ‘Communication’.
He added that the road (sarak) would strengthen relationship between the two neighboring countries (Bangladesh and India) and also develop the regions concerned. As the government has taken the initiative to enrich the history and heritage of the liberation war, he said if all the works including immigration, customs check post, road construction are completed, the ‘Swadhinata Sarak’ will become a reality.
Mujibnagar tourist center will also be developed as like Mujibnagar complex in Meherpur, he said.
