Palak for paperless communication in public offices

The government will expedite the process to introduce paperless communications in public offices ending the yesteryear paper based communication. “We should not continue paper-based communication for long at a time when the government has put emphasis on digitization of all government offices,” State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, said this while reviewing the progress of implement of various projects of his ministry on Monday.
ICT Secretary N I Khan apprised the minister of the status of 10 ongoing projects, nine proposed projects and two completed projects of the ICT ministry at the review meeting held in the conference room of the ministry.
Palak said the quick implementation of the two projects of the ICT Ministry-“Banglagovnet” and “infosarkar” will help establish connectivity among all government offices without which paperless communication is impossible.
He called upon the concerned authorities to set up Wi-Fi connectivity in all government offices immediately for going to internet based communications which would bring dynamism in official work.
The minister laid emphasis on designing and launching the projects keeping in mind the benefit and interest of the people as enshrined in the Vision 2021.
“We have to bring the rural people under connectivity and ensure their access to internet facilities. So focused should be given on the beneficiary group while implementing any project,” he said.
Palak said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to implement the Digital Bangladesh to turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021. Ministry of ICT will play a vital role to implement the commitment of the prime minister and work for establishing connectivity among people and ensuring people’s access to public services, he added.
N I Khan said that the ICT ministry has already launched a Learning and Earning Programme at district level and developed 15,000 freelancers who are involved in outsourcing job and earning money sitting at home.
“Now we will launch the programme at upazila level to develop over 55,000 freelancers who will help increase earning to at least 1 billion us dollars by 2017 from freelancing outsourcing sector,” he added.
Additional Secretary Kamal Uddin Ahmed, joint secretaries and Project Director’s of all project of ICT Ministry were present at the function.
