Suu Kyi’s misleading statement

Dr. Md. Shairul Mashreque :
Aung Sang Suu Kyi is a good public speaker. She is gifted with the gab speaking fluently with such expression to influence the audience. This is a rare quality in leadership. She possesses this quality. Her style of expression hiding facts is almost same as what Joseph Goebbel used to do. As Goebbel contends : “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Hitler used the same technique. So Goebbel’s use of expression was anchored in Hitler’s statement. His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.
According to news reports, Myanmar’s civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi has spoken publicly about the Rohingya crisis in her country. In the closely-watched speech, she recognised the conflict with the minority Muslim group, but also said she doesn’t know why there’s a mass exodus of refugees! CGTN’s Natasha Hussain reports, detected closed captioning: A Much Awaited State of the Union address Myanmar State Councillor Aung San Suu Kyi broken almost month-long silence on the Rohingya refugee crisis that has shocked the world. When talking of her stance on the violence, Suu Kyi emphasised the government’s strong support for human rights and its desire for peace and stability: We condemn all human rights violations and unlawful violence. We are committed to the restoration of peace, stability and rule of law throughout the state. The violence erupted in late August when Myanmar’s army retaliated against coordinated attacks by revenge. Since then nearly 400,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh to escape the fighting, in our language, in one of the world’s largest refugee camps. Many global leaders have urged the resettling of those innocent civilians. Suu Kyi stressed that Myanmar stood ready at any time to verify the status of the Rohingya Muslims that fled over the border. There has been a call for the repatriation of the refugees who have fled from Myanmar to Bangladesh. We are prepared to start the verification process at any time. Suu Kyi said, Myanmar does not fear international scrutiny over the Rohingya unrest and the government will work to find the reason why the massive exodus happened.
At the end of her speech the State Councilor virtually the de fecto leader, stressed that hatred and fear are the causes of the conflict. She believes the clashes can only be addressed by eradicating those weaknesses of human nature. Hate and fear are the main scourges of our world. All conflict arise either out of hate or out of fear. It is only by removing the sources of hate and fear that we shall be able to remove conflict from our country and from our world.
Suu Kyi seems to be instrumental in upholding military back government’s stand on Rohingya issues with all her cogent expression. She reluctantly admits something has been happening in the region of Rakhaine in the form of conflict provoked by the Rohingya ethnic group. She is all out to support the government ignoring the fact that Burmese military let loose reign of terror to flush out the innocent victims from their land. They are treated as Muslims, not an ethnic entity like Rohingya.
We cannot pin hope for any amicable settlement of the present crisis and extremely abnormal situation is prevailing in the state of Rakhaine. Only Suu Kyi can settle it. But she continues to keep mum on this humanitarian crisis telling big lies one after another.
In fact, she resorts to Goebbel’s and Hitler’s techniques proving herself to be a worst hypocrite. Military even after worldwide criticism is conducting operation against Rohingya with scorched earth policy in a way that outsiders cannot sense. Suu Kyi’s tacit consent happens to be damaging. The perpetrators in killing spree plunder and arson have the blessing of Suu Kyi who won Nobel Prize in peace! Myanmar government under the leadership of Suu Kyi conspires to compel Rohingyas to take refuge in Bangladesh and settle there. Repatriation of the dislocated Rohingyas is a far cry for the time being.
