SUST reopens after 2 months

UNB, Sylhet :
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) reopened on Sunday after an unscheduled closure of about two months due to campus violence.
However, the presence of students was negligible on the first day, said Prof Dr Himadri Sekhar Roy, proctor of the university.
Earlier, the university authorities at a meeting on January 10 decided to
reopen it on January 18. As per the decision, the dormitories were opened on Saturday. A good number of students returned to the dormitories on the day.
On November 20, Bangladesh Chhatra League activist and private university student Sumon was killed and 17 others were injured in an intra-party clash of the ruling party’s student wing over establishing supremacy on the SUST campus.
