Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a suspended assistant sub-inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of police for carrying yaba tablets from Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Baroyarhat area under Jorarganj Police Station on Saturday.
The arrestee, Abul Bashar, was suspended on the accusation of carrying drugs a few days back while serving as DB man of Brahmanbaria Police Lines. On information, a RAB-7 team intercepted Bashar at 8:30 am while he was riding on a motorcycle towards Dhaka, said Safat Jamil Fahim, a RAB-7 official.
RAB men recovered 30,000 yaba pills and a uniform of Sylhet Police Range after searching his bag. The motorcycle bearing police sticker was also seized.
