A suspected motorbike lifter was lynched by a mob at Sundali under Abhaynagar upazila in Jashore at around 10:30pm on Saturday.
The dead was identified as Mamun Rashid, 30, son of Sobhan Biswas of Ziadanga village under Abhaynagar upazila.
Tajul Islam, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station told Newsmen that the suspected motorbike lifter was lynched by a mob as he tried to snatch a motorbike that carry passengers commercially while coming from Monirampur to Nawapara industrial town.
Bydut Mondol, commercial motorbike driver, told that a passenger out of three, who got on the motorbike from Monirampur, was beaten by a mob at Sundali hearing his (driver) scream as the youth tried to snatch his bike on gun point. The two others, however, managed to flee.
Nasreen Begum, wife of the victim told journalists that her husband was a mason, not bike lifter. He was killed.
The OC told that a case was lodged with Abhaynagar police station in this connection. None was arrested.
