Suspected militant leader held

 Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a leader of the new militant outfit “Shahid Hamza Brigade (SHB)” from Chittagong Railway station area recently.
The arrested was identified as Khaled Hasan alias Rakib, 22, chief of SHB’s military wing “White Group”, hailed from Chandpur Sadar upazila of Chandpur district.
A team of RAB-7, being informed, arrested Rakib from railway station area under the city’s Kotwali police station around 7am and took him to the RAB-7 headquarters in city’s Patenga area for interrogation, RAB sources said.
Earlier on June 4, RAB arrested SHB second-in-command Sajal, 27, and its active member Shamsu from city’s AK Khan area.
Acting on a tip-off, the elite force in separate drives nabbed four members of the outfit with huge arms and ammunition from city’s Kotwali and AK Khan areas on April 12.
After the arrest, Lieutenant Colonel Miftah Uddin Ahmed, commanding officer of RAB 7, in a press conference told the reporters that the SHB started operation in November 2013 by holding a meeting at a hotel near the Foy’s Lake of the port city.
