A suspected drug dealer, who is also accused in at least 35 other criminal cases, was killed in a reported ‘shootout’ with police in the Gastolaghat Bridge area in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Helim, 42, son of Md. Sayeed Miah.

The gunfight took place in Gastolaghat Bridge area of Bhairab upazila around
2:20 am on Thursday. Police recovered a foreign made pistol, bullets, Yaba tablets and Phensedyl from the spot.
Additional Police Super (crime) of Kishoreganj Md. Shafiqul Islam told The New Nation that police conducted a drive against the drug dealers on Thursday midnight. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug dealers opened fire at them, retaliating the police to fire back.
