A woman, who on Sunday filed a case against National Cricketer Arafat Sunny, again filed a dowry case with the court against the cricketer on Monday.
On Sunday, she sued Sunny alleging that she was married to him who harassed her on Facebook.
Magistrate Raihanul Islam of the CMM Court of Dhaka, took into cognizance of the complainant and passed order summoning Arafat Sunny. The complainant’s lawyer Mohammad Rafiqul Islam told newsmen that Sunny and the woman moved to a residence after they got married on December 4, 2014.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt Sunny demanded Tk 2 million as dowry from the family of the woman’ saying that his family would accept her if she pay him the amount.
Earlier, Monday morning, Arafat Sunny denied the allegation of cyber harassment and being married to the complainant woman. He did not send any photo of the woman through Facebook messenger, he added while he was being interrogated allegedly by the police.
Investigation Officer of the case Sub-Inspector Yahiya said the woman’s mobile phone has been seized and sent to the CID’s Investigation Department.
Arafat Sunny was arrested in a case filed under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act on Sunday. While the woman filed the case saying that she got married with Arafat Sunny on December 4, 2014.
On 12 June last, Sunny allegedly sent intimate photos with her in Facebook messenger and on November 25 he threatened her of facing severe consequences, the woman mentioned in the case.
Meanwhile, Sunny’s lawyer on Sunday said in the court that Sunny did not marry the woman. The woman’s lawyers already submitted the Kabin Nama (Marriage deed) of the marriage at the court. However, the Investigation Officer Yahia said police will verify the Kabin Nama, submitted to the court.
