Sunken lighter ship with 10 floating sailors rescued from Bay of Bengal

A lighter ship named MV. Beauty of Lohagara-2 loaded with 1200 metric tones stone from a mother vessel named MV. Sagar Ratna carrying the flag of Singapore anchored near at Fair Buoy in the Bay of Bengal was returning to Mongla Sea Port on Saturday evening. But just on its way it suddenly sank in the Bay. Just before it was sunken the master of the ship sent a SOS. Being informed of the SOS a contingent of the coastguards at Dubla fisherman village station rushed to the spot and rescued all the 10 floating sailors (Nbiks). After giving them first aid treatment and food they were sent to Mongla Port by another lighter ship named MV. Desh Diganta. All the sailors hailed from the different places of Bangladesh. It is confirmed by Lt. Cornel Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, an officer of the detective branch of Coastguards of Western Zone deployed Mongla through a press release issued by him.
Another report states that a lighter ship named MV. Desh Bandhu loaded with 1050 metric tones of (Dab) fertilizer sank in the other side of the Pashu channel of the Port at Kainmari area at Thursday evening. All the 10 sailors of the ship were able to swim to the shore.
It is learnt from Riad Ali Molla, the master of the lighter ship that on the day in the evening after loading the fertilizer from a foreign ship anchored at Buoy No.14 at the harbour area of the port it was going to Noapara river port in Joshohr district and when it reached the place of occurrence it was struck with a shoal. Consequently, a crack was appeared on its bottom and within a short time it sank into the channel. Fortunately all the 10 sailor (Nabiks) swam to the shore.
But no step was taken to salvage both the lighter sunken ships till the writing of the report.
