Daffodil International University (DIU) paid glowing tributes to the country’s founding president and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking his 42nd martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day with due respect recalling the August 15, 1975 carnage, when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed along with most of his family members.
The national flag was hoisted at half-mast as the sun rises on August 15, 2015 at DIU main campus as well as permanent campus. To mark the occasion a discussion meeting followed by a prayer offered for eternal peace of Bangabandhu and his family members, who embraced martyrdom on August 15, 1975 was offered on Thursday seeking eternal peace of the departed souls at the Auditorium of Daffodil International University.
Prof Dr SM Mahabub-Ul-Haque Majumder, Acting Vice Chancellor (Pro-Vice Chancellor) was present as the chief guest in the discussion session. Presided over by Hamidul Haquer Khan, Treasurer, DIU, the discussion meeting was also addressed among others by Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, Prof AMM Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Prof Dr Golam Maowla Choudhury, Controller of Examinations and Proctor, Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Direcotor of Student Affairs. The Program was conducted by Teachers Associate Rashedul Islam Ratul. At the end of the discussion session Maolana Habibur Rahman offered Munajat for the salvation of the martyred souls.
Prof Dr SM, Mahabub-Ul Haque Majumder said, Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bangali of all time, Founder of Independent Bangladesh and Father of the Nation is the symbol of unity. He urged the young generation to be resuscitated with the spirit of Liberation War and engage themselves to the task of materializing Bangabondhu’s dream of building a Golden Bengal turning into strength the grief of the great loss of the Father of the Nation. In the mean time he called upon the students to read Bangabandhu’s autobiography.

On the occasion of 42nd Death Anniversary of the father of nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh administered institutions Hamdard University Bangladesh, Hamdard Public College, Rawshan Jahan Eastern Medical College and Hospital, Laxmipur, Hamdard Unani Medical College and Hospital, Bogra and Hakim Said Eastern Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka executed separate discussion meeting.
