Nahida Afroz Sumi is a viewers’ choice popular presenter. She also became model of music videos. But she has fascination about acting. However, she wanted to dominate in media as a singer. In 2008, when she was studying Honours in Music at University of Dhaka Sumi lost her father Alauddin Ahmed. During that time she, her mother Rawshan Ara Ahmed and only brother Russell became helpless and passed uncertain life. Though Sumi couldn’t maintain her families during that time but tried to maintain her pocket money by own way. During that time she engaged with various socio-cultural activities as joint general secretary of Joyoddhwoni, a cultural organisation. Once she got a phone call from Dhaka FM. She got the opportunity to work as a new presenter in the radio channel. She had to work there for one and half years. So, she detached from music. Then took break for Honours final examination. When she was studying Masters she got engage with Colours FM as its RJ. Now she has been working there for last six years. She attached herself with hosting seriously that she left music totally.
According to Sumi, she has fascination about Tagore songs but it was difficult to survive life only rendering Tagore songs. For this reason, she totally concentrated herself to programme hosting. Sumi said, “I am really enjoying hosting. From the beginning, I started to love hosting that now I cannot think to change my work. I want to pass my life by hosting because it has a different world. Many things can be learned by hosting. Therefore, I feel comfortable with it.”
“Once I met late Humayun Ahmed’s younger brother Ahsan Habib while hosting a show. From my friend I was informed that if any play of Humayun Ahmed is to be made where I will be first choice to play the role Rupa. After knowing the matter, I am dreaming to play the role. Recently I completed M.Phil in Music from Department of Music from University of Dhaka,” Sumi also said.
