Sagor-Runi murder: Submission of probe report now May 12

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday deferred the submission of the probe report in the Sagor Sarowar and Meherun Runi murder case to May 12.
Magistrate Debabroto Biswas of the CMM Court fixed the date as the inquiry organization RAB did not submit any report on Sunday. Earlier, the court had fixed March 31 for submission of the report in the murder case.

On February 11, 2012, Meherun Runi, senior reporter of private TV channel ATN Bangla, and her husband Sagor, News Editor of another TV station, Maasranga, were brutally murdered in their rented flat. Their only son, Megh, was inside their Pashchim Rajabazar house at the time of the murder. The following morning their hacked bodies were recovered from the house.
Eight persons including the couple’s “family friend” Tanveer Rahman were made accused in the case. Other accused persons are– security guard Enam Ahmed alias Humayun Kabir, Rafiqul Islam, Bakul Mia, Mintu alias Barogira Mintu alias Masum Mintu, Kamrul Hasan Arun, Palash Rudra Pal and Abu Sayeed.
The accused were put on remand several dates, but none admitted their offence in the murder.
