Subir Chowdhury passes away

Director of Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts Subir Chowdhury died while undergoing treatment in Australia in the early hours of Monday. He was 61.
Subir Chowdhury was also the Trustee of the Bengal Foundation.
In a media release Bengal Gallery said that under the title Janmobhumir Gaan (Song of Motherland), a group art exhibition was held in Australia in April.
A number of prominent Bangladeshi painters along with Subir Chowdhury were on a visit to Australia on the occasion. Subir unexpectedly fell sick there, and had been diagnosed with complications in the brain at a hospital in Canberra city in Australia.
Later he was admitted to Westmead Hospital in Sydney where he died in the early hours of Monday.
Subir Chowdhury was born on February 22 in 1953 in Jamalpur. He completed graduation from then Govt Fine Arts and Crafts Institute (now the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University) in 1974. He joined in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 1975.
In 2004, he joined in Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts as its Director.
