Students of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) warned of paralysing the capital Dhaka if the affiliation of the colleges with the university is cancelled.
Abu Bakar, chief coordinator of the five-point
demand movement, said this at a press conference in the city on Monday.
“We will declare a mass movement blocking roads from Sadarghat to Mohakhali to paralyse the capital city, if any whimsical decision is taken on the affiliation of the seven colleges with DU being influenced by the conspirators, he alleged.
The students of the seven colleges have been staging demonstrations for the realization of their five-point demand, including an explanation of their mass failure in exams for the past few months.
Their other demands are publishing results within 90 days of examinations, separate administrative buildings for seven colleges, at least 14 monthly classes by DU teachers, introducing separate academic calendar and crash programmes to curb session jam.
The affiliated colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women’s College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
