Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Friday urged students to generate new ideas by utilizing their creativity to build an economically developed country.
“Our new generation possesses world standard talents… They should utilize their talents to invent new ideas and knowledge,” he told the inaugural function of the two-day ‘Innovative, Teaching and Learning Expo-2017’ at Daffodil International University (DIU) here.
Daffodil Education Network and British Council Bangladesh jointly are organizing the expo, an official release said.
Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University of Technology Dr Munaz Ahmed Noor, DIU Vice Chancellor Dr Yousuf M Islam, teachers, IT experts and representatives of different organizations, among others, addressed the function with DIU Trustee Board Chairman Sabur Khan in the chair.
Nahid said, “Bangladesh will no longer remain an import-dependent country as our young generation has huge potentiality of developing new ideas and knowledge.”
“Our youth forces will make significant contributions to turn Bangladesh into an export-oriented country utilizing their creative and innovative knowledge,” he added.
The minister said Bangladesh has witnessed a remarkable progress in the field of education in the past eight and a half years as the government has been implementing various effective programmes.
“We have increased enrolment of students to 14 percent from 1 percent in technical education aiming to create skilled workforce. The government has set a target to reach 20 percent student enrolment in technical education by 2020,” he added.
