Students of Rajshahi University (RU) demonstrated against the initiative of RU authorities to introduce evening master’s courses.
About a hundred students under the banner of Progressive Students Alliance, formed by mainly left-wing student political parties, brought out a protest procession in the morning and demanded a revocation of the decision.
The university recently initiated a move to introduce evening master’s courses at seven departments under the social science faculty, in addition to courses now underway at the BBA and law faculties. The students, however, alleged that the move was intended to increase the profit margins of teachers as well as the administration rather than to enhance the scope of education.
