Abdullah-Al-Musayeb, CoU :

The transport crisis has been resulted in a dire consequence at Comilla University (CoU). Students of the university are to ride on the bus hazardously. About five thousand students are now under taking their graduation degrees form the university. Though the number of students is increasing every year, the transportation facilities of the university cannot cope with this proportion. Only nine renting BRTC buses are the medium of transportation of the students. These are too insufficient to meet the demand of the pupils. The university authority has become able to buy only two buses at their own cost after the eight years its inception. These two buses are using for the teachers and the staffs.
By getting huddle into the bus, students are to come campus riskily. More than hundred pupils get into each bus whereas each has capacity to carry only fifty. That is why, students fear an accident at anytime. Moreover, they cannot get the bus in due time which causes them late in class. Very frequently, students reach in the exam hall at the eleventh hour due to the insufficient transport. For this reason, the academic progress of the university is lagging behind. Some female students complained that they couldn’t get into the bus due to heavy crowd. Even if they are able to ride, they cannot get any opportunity to be seated.
The BRTC authority has recently given a precautionary notice to the university administration for not to load over pupils.
If any accident occurs, they will not take any responsibility for that.
Dr Biswajit Chandra Deb, Dean of Business Faculty and the convener of Comilla University Transport Committee admitted the problem and said that the authority is concerned to solve the problem and thinking to start a transport section immediately.
