The students’ cabinet elections from class six to ten were held simultaneously at 1043 schools and Dakhil madrasas across the country with much festivity and enthusiasm as over 6 lakh secondary school students cast votes to elect their leaders.
“The students got the opportunity to elect their leaders through the student cabinet polls. This election would imbibe the students with the motto of building the nation,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said this recently while visiting the student cabinet polls at Mirpur Adarsha School here.
During his visit the education minister witnessed the students’ eagerness and enthusiasm about the polls and said such type of election will set up an example for all, including political parties.
“There is no alternative to democratic practice. This kind of polls would help the students groom themselves as efficient and capable citizens to take the country ahead,” the minister said.
The elections were held at secondary educational institutions of 487 upazilas and eight cities. Among these, 495 were secondary schools, 487 Dakhil madrasas and 61 technical secondary schools.
