Students attend classes risking life in Murtuzapur School in Dupchanchia

Over 600 students of Mortuzapur Multiplex High School in 11 class rooms of Zianagar Union under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district are attending classes taking life risk under a canopy as their school buildings have been declared abandoned.
According to the school source, the school was established in 1930 with only two classrooms with the help of Golam Akber Pondit, late Farez Uddin Akanda, Islmail Hossain, Alhaj Kasir Uddin, Gomir Pondit and Sharif Uddin as Martuzapur junior Madrasha to eradicate the darkness of ignorance from the area.
Now, 11 skilled and perfect teachers are teaching a huge number of students to compete in the era of science. The name was converted to Mortuzapur Multiplex High School from Martuzapur junior Madrasha in 1966.
Around 80 students take part in SSC examinations and 100 students in junior school certificate every season from the schools and obtained bright results. Among the 11 classrooms the concern authority declared 5 rooms abandoned in 2014 and 6 other are being used for teaching students.
Yasin Hossain, a guardian of Parul Yasmin of class seven said, “I will not send my child to the school after the examination if it remains in this condition. ” The authority should come forward to repair or construct new building for the welfare of the students,” he added.
When contacted, District Education Officer Gopal Chadra said he had informed the higher authorities about the condition of the school. “I am thinking of shifting the classes to another place,” he added.
