Students assaulted by ‘BCL men’

The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League Chittagong University chapter allegedly assaulted some students of Chittagong University Yesterday and foiled their human chain in front of Social Science Faculty.
A group of BCL men led by former CU BCL Vice Information and Technology Secretary Rakibul Hassan Diner swooped on them and physically assaulted two students when they formed a human chain around 12 noon protesting illegal allegation against two teachers of CU.
Talking to the Correspondent
Saima Alam, Assistant Professor of Communication Journalism Department, said ” Our two colleagues have been asked to remove from CU with false and fabricated information . We were doing human chain by condemning it. Some boys came and grabbed our banners and physically assaulted students.
Contacted, BCL leader Rakibul Hassan Diner denied involvement of the attrack on students. He claimed
that students under the control of some teachers were trying to create untoward situation in peaceful campus. Our activists removed them from the spot.
According to sources, students of Sociology Department were arranging
the human chain protesting the declaration of persona non grata of two CU teachers who were Maidul Islam, assistant professor of sociology, and Khandakar Ali Ar Raji, assistant professor of journalism.As soon as the teachers-students started the protest programme , some BCL members started to swoop away the banner from teachers and giving abusive language. on one point, BCL men allegedlly beat up two students. Later, the injured were sent to CU medical for treatment.
The duty doctor of CU medical said that a duo came to medical. They were hit on their head but not serious.
When contacted, Assistant Proctor Liton Mitra said, ” No one informed us about the Human Chan even no permission was taken for the Chain.
we have not got any allegation in this regard. “
