A faction of transport leaders have called off the diesel price hike induced strike in Chittagong and directed their workers to return to work from Sunday.
Belayet Hossain Belal, president of the Chittagong Metropolitan Transport Owners Group, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “We had announced the strike to protest the sudden increase in diesel price. However, other political groups are now trying to take advantage of this situation to create chaos in the city.”
“Therefore, we have decided to call off the strike and allow buses, trucks, and covered to resume plying the city streets from 6am on Sunday,” he added.
