Strengthening emergency medical services in hospitals emphasized

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim urged the commonwealth countries for strengthening the emergency medical services of the government hospitals in Bangladesh.
He also sought active cooperation of the Commonwealth Secretary General to this end.
The health minister made this call on Thursday while Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland QC called on Health Minister at his Secretariat Office.
The minister also urged the Commonwealth Secretary General to increase pressure on the Myanmar government for quick repatriation of all the Rohingyas who were forcibly displaced to Bangladesh.
The Commonwealth Secretary General said “the world leaders are praising the government of Bangladesh as the government has ensured temporary residence, food and health care facilities for the Rohingyas in the quickest possible time.”
Bangladesh has played an excellent role under the perspective of humanitarian ground for providing shelter to the Rohingyas, she added.
“The information based website has been opened for strengthening the exchange of healthcare related knowledge, information and experience among the commonwealth countries and each and every country under the alliance would get an opportunity to take this creative initiative,” she said.
Senior ministry officials including Health Care Division Secretary M Sirajul Haq Khan and Health Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary GM Salehuddin were present.
