The 46th National Cooperatives Day was observed in Narsingdi district on Saturday.
Organised by district and Sadar upazila Co-operatives office and district Cooperatives union Narsingdi, the Department of Co-operatives has chalked out various programmes to observe the Day in a befitting manner.
The programme include rally, hoisting of National and Cooperatives flag, discussion meeting, distribution of prizes among the best ten co-operatives and cultural function.
A colourful rally led by State Minister for water Resources Lt Colonel (Retd) Nazrul Islam Hiro MP was brought out from Zonal Co-operatives Training Institutes and paraded the main roads of the town.
After the rally a discussion meeting with the them of the day “let make productive co-operative build developed Bangladesh” was held at the auditorium of Zonal Co-operatives Institute.
State Minister for water Resources Lt Colonel (Retd) Nazrul Islam Hiro MP (Birpratik) addressed the meeting as chief guest with the chair of the president of District Co-operatives Union, Narsingdi, Advocate Nazrul Islam Ripan.
The state Minister in his speech said, Co-operatives is an weapon for attaining national development and progress. The present government is also giving importance to Co-operatives to implement vision 2021 and vision 2041. He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujbur Rahman attached special importance to co-operatives for establishing a poverty and hunger free Sonar Bangla. The State Minister called upon all for making co-operatives for building a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh.
The meeting was addressed among others by Principal of Zonal Co-operative Training Institute Narsingdi, Horidas Takhure and District co-operative officer, Ashraf Hossain.

Kishoreganj District Co-operative office and others Co-operative organisation jointly arranged a colorful rally, discussion, distributing cheque, pestering and documentary film and cultural function marking the 46th National Co-operative Day.
A discussion meeting on ‘Lets do productive co-operatives, build Bangladesh’ was held at Local Co-operative Community Center in the town on Saturday morning. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as chief guest while District Co-operative Officer Kazi Abul Ahasan Apu in the chair. It was addressed among others by ADC (Gen ) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil as special guest, District Awami League Secretary Adv M.A Afzol, District Co-operative Samity President Humayon Kabir, veteran freedom fighter Md Asadullah, Educationalist Abu Khaled Pattan, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, freedom fighter Abdul Mannan and student leader Akib Hridoy.
DC Azimuddin Biswas said that urged cooperative to strengthen co-operative sector by properly using country’s limited resources. Our resources are limited- the co-operations will have to productive themselves in productive activities. A colourfull rally was brought our in the town marking the Day.
Gafargaon (Mymensingh) Correspondent reports: ” Productive Co-operative Society, Build up developed Bangladesh ” with this slogan, the 46th Co-operative Day was observed and a rally was brought out from Gafargaon Upazila parishad and ended at Shilpokola Academy at 11 am on Saturday.
Later, a discussion meeting was held. UNO DR.Shamim Rahman was in the chair. Mir Jahangir Hussain,president of Upazila Centre Multifarious Co-operative Society conducted the discussion meeting.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Asraf Uddin Badal was the chief guest in the meeting. Upazila Co-operative Officer Mir Kashem, former chairman of BRDB and Sangbadik Fakir-a -Matin , the present chairman Md. Ilias addressed in the meeting.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Government officials at a post-rally discussion here have called for strengthening of the cooperative movement to enhance productivity for cutting rural poverty to attain the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
They came up with the opinion at the discussion organised by Divisional Cooperatives Office at Town Hall auditorium on Saturday afternoon in observance of the 46th National Cooperative Day.
Earlier, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Rev) Abdul Mazid led a colourful rally in the city streets with participation of government officials and employees, leaders and activists of different cooperative organisations, civil society members and elite.
With Joint Registrar of Divisional Cooperatives Office Ajay Kumar Saha in the chair, the Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) attended the discussion as chief guest.
Additional Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Police Bashir Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman and General Secretary of district transport owners’ cooperative association AKM Azizul Islam Raju addressed as special guests.
In his welcome speech, Azizul Islam Raju discussed about the successes achieved so far through cooperative activities, increase productivity and develop human resources during tenure of the present government.
Bashir Ahmed laid importance on ensuring good governance in cooperative organisations to enhance productivity, achieve self-reliance through self- employments, small-scale enterprises, handicrafts and cottage industries for cutting rural poverty. The Deputy Commissioner stressed on ensuring proper management in disbursing cooperative loans and uniting the poor to enhance productivity for eradicating poverty on way to achieve the SDGs by 2030.
The chief guest hoped that strengthening of the cooperative movement would definitely enhance productivity in all rural sectors to build a middle income nation by 2021 and achieve the SDGs on way to build a developed Bangladesh by 2041.
