Strengthening bilateral ties with Uganda underscored

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali on Sunday stressed on further deepening cooperation between Bangladesh and Uganda in Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector for the benefit of the two nations.
“Bangladesh and Uganda can strengthen collaboration in different areas with especial focus on ICT sector,” he said.
The Foreign Minister said this when the outgoing Ugandan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Elizabeth Paula Napeyok paid a courtesy call on him at his office here, Foreign Ministry sources said.
During the meeting, they also discussed other possible cooperation in the areas of defence training, agricultural research, garments and textile, ship building, pharmaceutical, bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
The minister reaffirmed Bangladesh’s continuous efforts to deepen ties with African countries, including Uganda, and hoped that a Ugandan delegation led by the ICT Minister could visit Bangladesh in this regard.
Recalling her participation in the ‘Digital World 2016’ held in Dhaka last year, the Ugandan envoy lauded the progress made by Bangladesh in the ICT sector.
