Business Desk :
Bangladesh’s connectivity with other South Asian countries must be strengthened further to materialise the macroeconomic potential of the country, former central bank governor Atiur Rahman said.
He made the comments at a workshop styled “Mobilising Private Resources to Strengthen Connectivity Infrastructure” at Isfendiyar Jahed Auditorium of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in Dhaka on Thursday.
The promising private sector of the country can do a lot in attaining this objective, Islam added.
Meanwhile addressing the workshop, the panel discussants emphasised implementing public-private-partnership models for quality and safety testing of the goods coming or going through the ports and other activities at ports.
They also discussed the areas of connectivity hub management where private sector participation would be most suitable; challenges of large private sector investment in connectivity infrastructure, and accountability of private sector actors engaged in connectivity hub management.
